Too hot to leave the dogs in the car in February 20, 2010

Hi gang,

During the cool winter months in Phoenix Arizona, I take my dogs for more walks and I take them for more rides in my truck as well.

I noticed the other day that, although it was nice out side, and the weatherman on TV said that it was only 77 degrees, it was kind of uncomfortably warm inside of my truck.

I decided to do an experiment with our patio thermometer.

I rolled up the windows in my truck and I set the thermometer on the hand rest of the passenger side dashboard about a foot from the windshield.

After just five minutes, I took a picture of the thermometer through the front window of my truck to show every one just how hot it can get inside of your truck or car even in February when the air outside is cool.

It was 77 degrees outside at 2 clock in the after noon and it was well over 100 degrees inside of my truck at the same time.

I realized that if my dogs were in the car with me it would be too hot to even run into the grocery store to get a gallon of milk or some thing.

So if I do take them for a ride, I make sure that I don’t have to do any errands and I keep the air conditioner blasting.

All for now,

Introducing Rocket’s Wrangler

ken-and-lucy

Hi kids! My name is Ken and I’m Rocket’s Wrangler which means I am training Barb to train Rocket!

I was raised on a small farm in Northern Arizona and, from an early age, I have been around many different types of animals. Bandit was my first dog. He was a Beagle mix that we adopted from the animal shelter when I was 4 years old.

At the age of 15 I started helping in the raising and training of my family’s Brittany Spaniels and I have been a trainer ever since. I never use any hard training on the dogs. I always try to have fun and I make sure that the dogs are having fun too. I believe in teaching them through love and reward and not through punishment. I now have 2 Labrador Retrievers as well as a Lab mix that I found in the desert on Christmas Eve with a litter of puppies.

I want to help kids like you understand your dogs’ thinking, feelings and behavior so you can train them to be your loving trusting buddies for their whole lives! Most problems can be solved with patience and a little work. You can send in questions to me on Rocket’s web page . I will also be writing tips for you there so be sure and keep coming back.

Remember that it is never too early or too late to train your dog so DON’T become frustrated.

YOUR DOG IS BEGGING TO BE TRAINED!!!!!
